Composite Technicians fabricate lightweight materials for various industries, primarily aerospace and automotive. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, operating machinery, and ensuring product quality. Expertise in composite materials and precision work is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing composite fabrication and repair tasks as per the work orders and blueprints
  • Preparing molds and templates for composite parts
  • Measuring and cutting composite materials to size and shape using hand and power tools
  • Applying layers of composite materials to molds and parts, and bonding them together using adhesives and heat
  • Sanding, trimming, and finishing composite parts to meet the required specifications
  • Inspecting finished composite parts for defects and ensuring they meet the quality standards
  • Cleaning and maintaining tools, equipment, and work area
  • Assisting in the development and improvement of composite fabrication processes and techniques

Requirements:

  • Experience in composite manufacturing, including layup, bonding, and assembly techniques
  • Knowledge of composite materials, properties, and characteristics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and other equipment commonly used in composite manufacturing
  • Attention to detail, quality, and safety standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and other team members
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification or degree in composite manufacturing or related field is a plus
