Composite Laminators specialize in assembling layers of fibreglass on molds to form boat decks and hulls, bodies for golf carts, automobiles, or other products. Responsibilities include precision cutting, bonding, and forming of composite materials.
Responsibilities:
- Inspecting composite materials to ensure quality standards are met
- Cutting composite materials to the correct dimensions
- Laying composite materials onto molds and ensuring they are positioned correctly
- Applying adhesives and resins to composite materials
- Using hand and power tools to shape composite materials
- Operating machinery to cure composite materials
- Finishing composite products to ensure they meet customer specifications
- Keeping work area clean and organized
Requirements:
- Knowledge of composite materials and laminating techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience in operating hand and power tools such as sanders, saws, and drills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow strict quality control standards
- Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift heavy materials, and work in tight spaces
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience in using resin mixing equipment and knowledge of safety procedures when working with chemicals
