A cariste is an operator primarily responsible for safely and efficiently using heavy machinery to transport, stack, and load goods in warehouse or distribution center settings. Tasks involve operating forklifts, carrying out routine equipment maintenance, and adhering to strict safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery in a safe and efficient manner
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles
- Transport materials to designated areas within the warehouse or production facility
- Inspect and maintain forklifts and other equipment on a regular basis
- Keep accurate records of inventory and materials movement
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
Requirements:
- Valid cariste certification from a recognized institution
- Proven experience in operating a forklift and other heavy equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to operating heavy machinery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and other departments
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs
- Proficiency in basic math and record-keeping to maintain accurate inventory counts
- Flexibility to work in different shifts and weekends as needed
