Responsibilities:
- Operate cable tool drilling rig to drill earth and rock formations
- Select and attach drill bit to cable, and lower and raise the bit into the borehole
- Monitor drilling progress and adjust drilling speed and pressure as needed
- Remove drill cuttings from borehole and maintain equipment
- Install and remove well casing and other drilling components
- Interpret drilling and geological data to determine drilling locations and methods
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices
Requirements:
- Ability to operate cable tool drilling equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of drilling techniques, geology, and well construction
- Physical fitness and manual dexterity to handle heavy equipment and perform repetitive tasks
- Basic mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to troubleshoot issues on the job
- Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and clients
