Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute tasks
- Cut, shape, and join metal sheets and pipes using hand tools, welding equipment, and other machinery
- Perform regular maintenance and repair work on boilers, tanks, and other vessels
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures at all times
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, engineers, and project managers to complete projects on time and within budget
- Operate hoists, cranes, and other lifting equipment to move heavy materials and components
- Document work progress, materials used, and other important information for record-keeping purposes
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices and other junior staff members as needed
Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Experience in welding, cutting, and shaping metal using various tools and equipment
- Knowledge of different types of metals and their properties
- Ability to measure and mark materials accurately
- Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces
- Strong attention to detail and safety protocols
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
