An Assistant Breeder supports the lead breeder in managing animal mating, monitoring animal health, and maintaining breeding records. Key tasks include genetic research, data analysis, and ensuring animal welfare.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the breeder in all aspects of animal breeding, including selection, mating, and birthing
  • Monitor animal health and welfare, and report any concerns to the breeder
  • Perform routine animal care tasks, such as feeding, watering, and cleaning
  • Collect and record data on animal performance and behavior
  • Assist with the development and execution of breeding programs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
  • Assist with the training and supervision of other breeding staff, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the breeder or management

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of breeding techniques and genetics
  • Ability to perform basic veterinary procedures
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy objects

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends
